Location
Sofia is the capital of Bulgaria and the largest city in the coutry. It is located at the northern foot of the Vitosha Mountain, in the Sofia Valley. It is in close proximity to the mountains Lyulin, Stara Planina, Sredna Gora and Lozenska.
Five mountain passes lead to the city – Iskarski, Vladayski, Dragomaski, Petrohanski and Botevgradski. Sofia has a total area of 492,029 m2 and is situated at an altitude of 550 m.
Sofia is one of the most ancient European capitals. The history of the region can be traced more than 70,00 years back in time.
